Little convoluted from its predecessor but not bad, I just wasn't following along too closely so don't know much of what was going on other than the school girls wanted to watch horror movies and pizza and that sounded like a great idea.

How to microwave a cat Japanese style.

The original Ju-On series that most people gave up on ages ago, which is understandable, as the entries aren't as readily available as other horror franchises.

The final entry continues the story of the little naked cat boy and his hairy stair crawling mom as they haunt the shit out of whoever is unfortunate enough to cross their paths.

From what I've seen of the series, each generally only tie into the previous film, so no need to go all the way back to work out what's happening.
Basically, the duo select someone to haunt and everyone connected to that person picks up the curse as well, like a ghost flu.

    They get…

    Series: Ju-on/The Grudge Ranked

Well... I've done it. I have watched every Ju-on film until I eventually finish all the Ring films and watch the crossover. Do I regret my time with this series? Immensely. But what's done is done and all I can do now is reflect on the pains of these films.

The biggest problem with the last two films is the focus on TOSHIO of all characters. You know, the sidekick child ghost of Kayako. But in these two he's the central plot device. I don't understand why. He has never been anything more than annoying, and actively hinders every scene he is in. The Final Curse just keeps pumping out more Toshio content however, and he…

Ending Ju-On series with disappointment, The 10th anniversary were better than these. The sequel is even more convoluted and boring, It feels sad how this franchise ended with this shit. One more movie to wrap up the Grudge counterpart and I'm done with this series.

  • Review by Quintin ★★★

Ju-On The Final Curse doesn't do anything remarkably unique in terms of story but it's cinematography created a visually interesting take on the curse slowly engulfing the protagonist and creating a terrifying, isolating perspective on what the curse can do to someone. The film might fall in the middle in terms of the characters and story but this conclusion to the Japanese take on Ju-On is easily the second best in terms of camerawork which is enough to make The Final Chapter the best film since the original four.

I think director Masayuki Ochiai was trying something different while simultaneously trying to keep familiar and that’s his downfall. It’s not different enough to stand out but changes just enough that it doesn’t exactly work.

Basically, Toshio gets more screen time and more powers than any of the other movies. Turns out more of him isn’t that interesting.

  • Review by 🎃George Zverblis🎃

Ju-on: The Final Curse is a great example of how to not end a popular franchise. It's a confusing, weird mess. This should've been something epic and large, but it's just the same old shit. An awful ending to a repetitive, bland series.

  • Review by Dave Jackson ★½ 1

I wanted to give this the benefit of the doubt. I really wanted to enjoy this. But fuck. This is an absolute dog shit Ju-on film. One of the worst in the series, if not the worst, at least of the Japanese films. Following the mildly okay The Beginning of the End, The Final Curse just totally balls things up. It seems utterly confused as to where to the take the story and forgets what made these films scary. Toshio becomes some kind of head-scratching, body-jumping spirit, and the film devolves into borderline slasher territory with ghosts showing up to enthusiastically dispatch characters before wandering off again. Some of the deaths are admittedly hilarious, including a death by squid ink…

I wasn't even paying attention because I decided for some godforsaken reason to make a new Tumblr, but I still insist that Toshio introducing the little medium girl to his cat is the cutest scene ever put to film.

  • Review by maskull ★½ 2

Toshio and Kayako move to new digs and Toshio has turned into a body jumper apparently. This movie seems to have stripped away some of the new additions from the last one, including the spirals, and went a little darker (less daytime), the cat yowls are back and there are more gurgles from Kayako. It's also turned into a supernatural slasher flick. The cursers show up and kill you. Not much build up, no real haunting, they just kill you! Too bad a lot of the kills are off screen. They did manage to surprise me with at least one character's death so that was good and there's a few nice moments of Kayako crawling, but then there's a incredibly…

I feel like this has little to no value. Rehashed ideas and some poor CG. I'm really glad to be just about done with these movies. They should have stopped when Takashi Shimizu quit. This one was a real drag.
